Here we are in AC Rally. This is very early game play for me, litterally my second ever completion of a course. Rally Hafern with the Lancia Stratos. This is open practice mode and holy balls this is a great experience. Clearly I'm going to have to practice a ton. I picked up a seven second penalty when I didn't brake early enough into a tight right and whacked a spectator. This is of course not an amazing drive. But I feel good about it over all after many attempts and restarts as I get used to the physics of AC Rally. I look forward to learning the timing of the pace notes so I can turn off the visuals. The UI is also a bit "arcade" for my tastes, but I do imagine I can adjust all this stuff. Obviously this is a new experience and as I learn I'll make the necessary modifications to UI etc. For comparison, the Stratos in Dirt Rally 2.0 is a handful to drive. Easy to spin, easy to lose a handle on. The physics in AC Rally seem to be a whole level above Dirt Rally 2.0 and the Stratos feels similar enough to catch a relation between the cars vs the two game engines, but because of the uplift in physics it's also quite different feeling. If that makes enough sense. The Stratos is rated as taking a "pro" to start using it and I have to say I think it's great that I've got a lot of experience from Dirt Rally coming into this. I love it. Amazing feeling. From the jitter when you shift gears to the panic when an over correction begins to the absolute thrill of getting the line just right. I can see myself playing a ton of this and I look forward to seeing it develop from early access. I'm sure I'll be making a play list for this soon. The end screen will take you to today's Lancia Stratos daily in Dirt Rally 2.0, if you should wish to see a comparison of sounds and feels etc.
