HOUSE OF THE DRAGON: Everything You Missed in Episode 7 (Watch Before the Finale)

Everybody came out of this one talking about the dragon. Aegon in the dark, torch-lit army closing in, the speech of his life — and then Sunfyre through the trees behind him, like an apology that took two seasons to arrive. That's the clip everyone's posting. I want to talk about a woman sitting up in bed, refusing to answer a question. Because there's a trade running underneath this entire hour, and once you spot it you can't stop. Almost every conversation in Episode 7 is one person telling another person who they are — in exactly the shape that person is desperate to hear — and taking something in exchange. Ormund does it to Ulf. Mysaria does it to Rhaenyra. Alys does it to Aemond. Alicent does it with a warm cup of wine and a memory from his childhood. And Helaena, the one person in this cast who genuinely knows how all of this ends, sits there and gives nobody anything. This is the setup the finale pays off.
