Valkyria Chronicles is a turn-based tactics game developed by SEGA and released on the Playstation 3 in 2008. It was developed by the same team that created Skies of Arcadia on the Dreamcast, and combines turn-based tactics with semi-realtime combat to create what they dubbed the "Blitz" system. The story follows Welkin Gunther, a student and aspiring teacher in the small nation of Gallia, as he is reluctantly dragged into a war to defend his homeland from Imperial invaders. The son of a great war hero, Welkin is called upon in spite of his desire to avoid war. Taking charge of Militia Squad 7, he will put his skills and ingenuity to the test against a overwhelming foe that may be invading Gallia for more than just its natural resources.
