DIY Mermaid Party Ideas & Decor / Fun & Easy Crafts

Today we are making a game, activity, and decor for a Mermaid themed party. The game we are making is tic-tac-toe with a fun twist. The O’s are sand dollars and the X’s are starfish. I found faux sand dollars and starfish at Dollar Tree. I made the grid for the game out of 4 pieces of nautical rope. It looks perfect for a mermaid party & would be great to set out for guests to play! The activity we are making is an ice cream cone mermaid’s tail. I took ice cream cones and decorated them with blue icing & sprinkles (I found the sprinkles in the ice cream toppings section at Walmart). For the fins, I used pink card stock that I cut out to look like Mermaid’s tail fins. These are so fun & super easy to make! Guests of all ages would have fun making these! The decor we are making is a Mermaid Centerpiece. I traced & cut out vinyl paper from Dollar Tree in teal & pink for the tail & attached it to card stock. Then I assembled it all together attaching it to a skewer. I also made 2 seashells out of vinyl paper & splashes out of blue card stock attaching them to skewers too. To build the arrangement, I used a galvanized container I’ve had for years from IKEA but I’ve seen similar containers at Dollar Tree & Walmart. I had used this container before so it already had floral foam in it. To cover the foam, I hot glued reindeer moss that I painted 3 different shades of blue. Then I stuck the Mermaid’s tail, seashells, & splashes into the foam. The Mermaid looks like she just splashed down into the water! So fun! The last thing we're making is confetti for the table. I used pink, blue, and purple tubing from Dollar Tree. I cut it into a bunch of smaller strips and it was ready to go. I plan to use it on the table around the centerpiece.
