I tacked up quicker than usual and she behaved really well, so I gave her a treat or two after saddling. Then we headed down to the school for some more work. I put a few poles out, one raised and balanced on the other two, with the idea that if she hit it, it would roll off—which it did—and it didn’t bother her. To start with I just let her go where ever she wanted to go then after a while I took up the reins and asked her to listen. Two uprights were already in the school, so it was good practice to see how she reacted walking through them; not a flinch, job done. She felt quite fresh, and I started trotting early on, managing a few before my phone ran out of storage—something I must check next time. We worked on some flexion; she’s still a bit more resistant to giving on the right side, but we’ll get there. Ideally, I’d ride her several times a week, but work makes that tough. Thankfully, I’ve got a couple of weeks off next month, so I should be able to get more done with her schooling. I will hopefully try a short hack around the estate, we have a cc course and lots of fields close by the school, not that we will ever attempt to jump anything but just getting the feel of what it's like to take her out without roads to worry about.
