Ugandan activist Praise Aloikin Opoloje has delivered a passionate speech addressing her experiences with detention, political activism and what she sees as the challenges facing Uganda. Speaking at a public gathering, Aloikin describes her activism as an act of patriotism and reflects on the public solidarity she says she received following her reported abduction and detention. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, raising concerns about taxation, youth unemployment, freedom of expression and the treatment of government critics. ⚖️ Her Vision for Uganda’s Leadership She calls for leadership based on merit, ideology, respect for the rule of law and direct engagement with citizens. She argues that public leadership should not rely on fear or military force. ✊ A Call for Civic Action Aloikin urges Ugandans to defend their rights and take an active role in shaping the country's future. She also criticises the functioning of Parliament and the judiciary, arguing that institutional accountability needs to improve. 🏥 The Wider Challenges Facing Citizens The discussion also touches on healthcare costs, economic pressures, the hardships faced by ordinary Ugandans and the importance of citizens having a meaningful voice in public affairs. Praise Aloikin is a human rights activist and 2025 European Union Human Rights Defenders Award recipient. She was granted bail on October 14, 2026, after pleading not guilty to a charge relating to the alleged use of another person's SIM card. The case was scheduled for a further court mention on November 19, according to reporting by the Daily Monitor.
