Have you ever found yourself feeling responsible for someone else's emotions, decisions, problems, or consequences—even when you know logically they aren't yours to carry? For high-capacity women, over-responsibility can look a lot like strength. We're dependable. Capable. Helpful. Organized. Nurturing. We're the ones who get things done. Those are genuine strengths. But something begins to shift when helping becomes rescuing, responsibility becomes control, generosity leads to depletion, and caring becomes carrying. In this episode of The Aligned Woman, we're beginning a new month by looking beneath our choices at some of the patterns that quietly pull us out of alignment. And we're starting with over-responsibility. We'll explore: Why being capable doesn't mean something is yours to carry How over-responsibility can keep the nervous system in a state of vigilance What functional medicine and the concept of allostatic load teach us about accumulated stress Why love and responsibility aren't the same thing The difference between helping someone and rescuing them What Galatians 6 teaches us about bearing one another's burdens while also carrying our own load Why putting something down isn't the same as abandoning someone How trusting God sometimes means releasing our need to manage the outcome A practical exercise for identifying what belongs to you, what belongs to someone else, and what belongs to God One of the hardest lessons I've learned is that I can deeply love someone without fixing them, rescuing them, managing their emotions, or preventing every difficult consequence. Compassion doesn't require ownership. Sometimes the most aligned thing you can do isn't take on something more. It's finally put down what was never yours to carry. Try This Week's Exercise: "What Am I Holding That Isn't Mine?" Take a piece of paper and create three columns: MINE | THEIRS | GOD'S Then begin sorting through the responsibilities, worries, expectations, relationships, and emotional burdens you're carrying. The goal isn't perfect categorization. It's clarity. Take The Alignment Check If you're beginning to recognize places where you're depleted, overextended, or carrying responsibilities that don't belong to you, The Alignment Check can help you take a more intentional look at your life. https://bit.ly/TakeAlignmentCheck Listen to The Aligned Woman Podcast https://bit.ly/AlignedWomanPodcastSpo...
