Restoring The Black Ebonised Finish On A Napoleon lll Boulle Brass Tortoiseshell 1860s Cabinet PT3

Today in Part 3 we attend to the old black pitted and dented finish on the cabinet door. We cut back the old black finish and apply 10 coats of Back Oxide and Blonde Shellac cutting back between the coats to remove the scratches. We also add some 24K Gold to the mounts. The door is starting to look very good and will be put aside for a few weeks so everything can dry and harden. We will attend to any smaller missed details when assembly occurs.
