   • DOOM 2 Ray Traced full playthrough longpla... ------------------------- Gameplay of the new “DOOM Engine Remaster Project” source port, a remaster of the Doom engine created by Robongrui that adds visual effects while maintaining its retro style. In this gameplay video, I play through the entire “Knee-Deep in the Dead” episode (plus the first level of the second episode, as a bonus) in 4K resolution, using the default settings. It’s pretty impressive to see advanced lighting effects, reflections, breakable glass and lights, atmospheric effects, ragdoll physics, parallax textures, and more. The lighting and reflections almost look like they were done with ray tracing, but they aren’t. It looks great and preserves the game’s retro look. The downside is that it still needs quite a bit of optimization. On my PC with a 13900K, 64GB of RAM, and an RTX 4090, it runs much worse than the actual ray-traced version—often failing to reach 60 fps—and I think it gets worse as the minutes go by in the level. I think you can see that pretty clearly in the video. Let’s hope the developer can improve that aspect, because otherwise, I absolutely loved this new source port. And there are even more possibilities... Doom Engine Remaster Project by Robongrui: https://github.com/robongrui/derp
