VW ID.7 GTX Tourer Road Trip Across The Norwegian Mountains – Part 1

I drove the VW ID.7 Tourer GTX from Volkswagen's Norway HQ in Oslo toward Bergen to see how this 400V, MEB-based wagon handles a snowy mountain road trip. Things started oddly – the car didn’t charge overnight, leaving me at 39% SoC – so the day became a mix of route planner quirks, winter driving, and real-world charging. I dig into what specs miss: Travel Assist, DCC chassis tuning, the mostly-RWD setup with an induction front motor, and why it feels more composed than its numbers suggest. On a Tesla Supercharger, it peaked at ~201 kW and added 62.5 kWh in 25 minutes (91 kWh gross / 86 usable), and I adjust the route planner to avoid wasting time charging. I also cover efficiency (18.7 kWh/100 km), comfort features, no one-pedal driving, and the lack of a dog mode.
