The sky has fallen: The world as we know has turned into an ice age caused by unexpected natural disasters and the whole damned moon has exploded! leaving a scarred remement of Earth, and a defaced moon with it's core glaring out at the late afternoon and evening sky like a giant eye.-or some lunatics claim it is "watching"- damned cultists!
After falling into a revine, Hell, a bridge giving out strands us for the duration of the game, we surive the fall, and try and find out way to "The Mall" LOL, well, "home" for what its worth. Icarus, a questionable name for the one who gives us this mission is an elusive one at that!
After a visit to Horizen we decide to build our own shelter on the otherside of a mountain through a cave where we meet our new friend, the dog you deiced which breed at the character creation, Me and Bear, my Husky, exit the cave to the building site, given us by Robyn Cane the leader of Horizen, now at the far side of the mountain cave, we find a place to build a shelter, and eventually we will later build an antanne and a radio station in owr shelter.-but not today.
Permafrost is a surival and building simulator with story elements rolled up into one. You asscociate with the other remaining inhabitants of the frozen wasteland, trade, gather informatoin and resources to survive and complete the missions given to you in "hopes" of finding something else that is better in lfe.
*I chose the Hunter. This game is brutal starting out! You have almost no reasources and at first the weather makes it hard to build a shelter... The wolf helmet is not just for looks. it has the best defense value and the best cold protection for starting equipment! Compair it to "Hybrid" Gear or even Scavenger gear! later on! in fact, its cold protection is superior to even the Hybrid tier! The casualware worn by both "The Hunter" class and "The Smuggler" offer a better defense than the "Survivor" gear. I have no idea why you even need to craft the Survivor gear as it is as downgrade from even casual clothes.(maybe a back up cheap stich if your clothes wareout on the road-but you still need a workbench to create the item!). If you play the "Surivvor" class you are doing it for player experience and challenge(not character EXP!) and difficulty level only. It will be difficult. Your armor class is very low. A boar can kill you quickly. There is no in game advantage(I know of) for playing "The Survivor". I would think dressing like the people in Horizen might gain you a socical bonus, extra dialouge in that starting settlement, but it does not.-yet.
But this is an early access game! who knows.
*later as I played past this point(in another future video I will post that footage), there are many complications invovled in building the radio startion/antanne, mainly early access building bugs, like for instance moon cultists disapearing after you shoot them down and not yeilding items as the bodies are not there after death, buildings in "search cold zone" quests yeilding absolutely nothing(no wiring), and not being able to complete the Bridge To Horizen even with the proper materials, because of a "quest flag error" invovling "wooden stairs" that do not exist and getting "stuck" with a half way repair. This means taking the long way back to Horizen for supplies. But the solution: is to use the "unstuckme" command in the game's menu to warp back to Horizen and then venture back(through the cave) to the other side of the bridge in which it is then repariable. you need rags to craft ropes, which are hard to find, except buying them from traders in Horizon.
this information is difficult to find as google "AI" tends to misinterpet it as meaning "you are bulding stairs' when, in fact you are repairng a bridge. No such luck on discord finding the solutoin either. where often you are taken out of context. I found it accidentally! By simply using the "unstuckme" command as I stated. this bug occurs sometimes but not often. if you fix the stairs at the church before doing the bridge it will not happen.
