Would you choose suffering with Kṛṣṇa or comfort without Him?
In this lecture on Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 1.8.25, Śrīla Prabhupāda explains Kuntī's prayer welcoming calamities because they remind her of Kṛṣṇa. He says the material world is full of danger at every step, like a ship at sea, however strong it may be, and that the real danger is the repetition of birth and death. He explains that a devotee sees both danger and opulence as forms of Kṛṣṇa, and that Kṛṣṇa reduces the devotee's suffering to a token punishment. He also speaks about tapasya, the power of the holy name, and the sufferings of the Pāṇḍavas, Prahlāda Mahārāja and Haridāsa Ṭhākura, who never lost their faith in Kṛṣṇa.
May we learn to see Kṛṣṇa's mercy even in difficult times.
