Oba-Ama is one of the communities of the Okrika/Wakirike people of Rivers State. It is listed within Okrika LGA, specifically under the Kalio administrative area. The Okrika people are part of the wider Izon/Ijaw ethnic group, and the name Okrika is an Anglicised form associated with Kirike/Wakirike. A recent academic treatment of Okrika describes the people as an Izon/Ijaw group occupying the coastal area of southeastern Rivers State.
