Jean Desprez

This magnificent poem was written by Robert W Service in 1916 and set to music by "Country" Joe McDonald in his 1971 album emphasising the futility of war. I am surprised nobody has uploaded this before, as there is a video of this live performance (which I don't have). It is a cruel and bloody story yet somehow uplifting in its depiction of the ineffectiveness of violence to quell the spirit of the oppressed.
