On the fifth day of Chaturthi, several parts of Goa observe the traditional Hovshe ritual, a unique practice passed down through generations. The ritual begins with women visiting a river or water source to collect water, followed by traditional rituals to welcome the deity home. A special Hovso prasad is then prepared using fruits and other traditional ingredients and shared among the family and community. More than just a ritual, Hovshe reflects gratitude towards nature and water and highlights Goa’s deep-rooted cultural traditions. ‘The Voice - for Goem’ is a fresh, fearless and people-centric platform.
