THE NIGHT OFFICE | Dark Ambient Music [TWD-010]

THE NIGHT OFFICE PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA — 1971 Official records identify the room as an auxiliary communications office. It was designed to remain operational after the main residence had closed for the night. Telephone traffic, radio transmissions and security reports from across the compound were routed through the room and logged by a small overnight staff. At least, that is what the surviving records suggest. The recovered duty logs contain several inconsistencies. Between 1:00 AM and 4:00 AM, encrypted calls were routinely received on a secure line that does not appear in any communications inventory. The calls were never identified by origin. Instead, operators were instructed to transfer them directly to a restricted circuit designated WHITE-4. No such circuit appears in the official plans. Surveillance records reveal a similar pattern. Long after the compound's regular staff had left, unidentified vehicles continued to arrive through the western service entrance. Their occupants were not entered into the visitor logs. On several occasions, the Night Office remained active until shortly before sunrise. The final surviving duty sheet is dated November 17, 1971. Three calls were received that night. Two were transferred to WHITE-4. The destination of the third was left blank. Less than forty-eight hours later, all references to the Night Office disappear from the official communications records. The room itself remained operational for another four years. No record identifying who controlled it has been recovered. https://www.thewhitedepartment.com The White Department is an original cinematic fiction project by Ambient Outpost, unfolding through interconnected films, recovered dossiers, surveillance logs, and atmospheric worlds.
