On December 7, 1941, Pearl Harbor was attacked. In the first twenty-four hours that followed, Franklin D. Roosevelt worked through fragmentary military reports, emergency White House meetings, competing speech drafts, and a rapidly expanding Pacific crisis before asking Congress to declare war on Japan.
This Hitorium documentary reconstructs what FDR knew, what remained uncertain, and how the famous “Day of Infamy” speech took shape before Congress voted the next day.

About Us
Hitorium explores the overlooked mechanics behind major moments in American and world history-presidents, first ladies, wartime decisions, private advisers, speeches, letters, journeys, and relationships that shaped public events. The channel is made for viewers who enjoy archival research and long-form historical storytelling but are tired of recycled summaries, surface-level biographies, and documentaries that skip the human details. Each episode draws on primary sources, memoirs, contemporary records, and carefully selected visual evidence to reconstruct what people knew, did, and experienced in real time. Our goal is simple: familiar history, examined through the corners most retellings leave out.
