[ThinkLab] Exploring postcolonial & decolonial conceptual trajectories

This dialogic space explores “postcolonial & decolonial conceptual trajectories" from the vantage point of different world regions. It is part of the first Think Lab of the Postcolonial Hierarchies Network (Hierarchies), celebrated at the Arnold Bergstraesser Institute (ABI) in Freiburg from 5th-6th of October 2022. Chaired by Dr. Tareq Sydiq, postdoctoral scholar from the University of Marburg and coordinator of the Hierarchies network, this video features Prof. Dr. Madina Tlostanova, Professor of postcolonial feminism(s) at Linköping University; Dr. Siddharth Tripathi, Senior Research Fellow at University of Erfurt and member of Hierarchies; and Dr. Filiberto Penados, a Mayan intellectual and activist from Galen University and co-founder of CELA Belize. In this thought-provoking session, Madina Tlostanova discusses postcolonialism as a human condition that confronts us with the option to decolonize different spheres of our own social life (or not); Siddharth Tripathi refers to colonialism as something that denied humanity to ‘others’, giving way to dualisms that to this day need to be acknowledged and abolished, if any decolonial effort is to become effective; Filiberto Penados conceptualizes Indigenous resistance as a process of ‘rerooting and rerouting,’ one entailing the rediscovery of truth to invent something new as a way of being ‘transmodern.’ Listen to more details in the video. ~~~~~~ The project Postcolonial Hierarchies in Peace & Conflict (Hierarchies) is a collaborative network of the Arnold Bergstraesser Institute (ABI) Freiburg, the Center for Conflict Studies at the Philipps University Marburg, the University of Bayreuth & the University of Erfurt.
