For this song, I wanted to approach abortion from a perspective that is rarely given a voice: the unborn child. The song asks one simple question throughout: When did I become a soul? It is written from the perspective of a life that never had the ability to speak, never had the ability to defend itself, and never had the opportunity to ask anyone to reconsider.
