The Beatles - "Abbey Road Medley (The Long One)" (Full Instrumental Cover)

Thanks for watching, please like and subscribe for more videos Over the past month, I set out to cover the entire Abbey Road Medley from start to finish, tracking every single guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, percussion & orchestral arrangement by hand while trying to stay as faithful as possible to the spirit and feel of the original recordings. What started as me just covering You Never Give Me Your Money turned into one of the largest projects I've ever worked on for the channel This wasn't really approached as a perfect recreation, because honestly I don't think in some ways that is really possible, other than note choice. Nor is it the reason why I love making these videos; at the end of the day, this is still a cover: my interpretation and exploration of one of the most iconic pieces of music ever recorded that means so much to me. Throughout the project I spent a lot of time thinking about arrangement choices, tones, & the way these recordings feel emotionally as they move from one section to the next. It's honestly insanely innovative for how effortlessly it balances contrasts. There is SO MUCH going on here at times that it really makes you sit & think how brilliant these guys were to come up with all this stuff & make it sound so effortless at times. Working through this project also gave me an even deeper appreciation (if it is even humanly possible) for how human these recordings really are. In this community I find it's pretty easy to mythologize Beatle sessions & think of them as untouchable masterpieces assembled through some impossibly complicated process but so much of this magic comes from feel, instinct, arrangement & most of all performance. The closer I got to these sounds & parts, the more I realized how much personality & spontaneity still lives inside the recordings. I also wanted to preserve the warmth and imperfection that makes the album feel alive. There are cleaner & more "modern" ways this could have been produced but that wouldn't have felt true to the material. A huge part of makes not just Abbey Road but the rest of the Beatles' catalog so special is that despite all of its ambition & studio sophistication, it still feels deeply human. So as a result, what you're hearing is a max of 2-3 takes per instrument. I wish I had the instruments at my disposal to track all the string and brass parts, but I'd get kicked out of my apartment. So we live in the realm of software for those. It gets close enough! Thank you to everyone who followed along with the individual sections as I worked through this over the past few weeks.
