39.5-km four-lane road, new interchanges & major traffic relief expected

Jalandhar is set to get a 39.5-km, four-lane bypass worth ₹669.12 crore under the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway connectivity project. The proposed corridor aims to improve connectivity between Jalandhar, Kapurthala and Sultanpur Lodhi while offering heavy vehicles an alternative to congested city roads. The project will be developed in two sections of 15.5 km and 24 km. It also features trumpet and diamond interchanges, vehicle underpasses, high-mast LED lighting, directional signboards and a drainage system. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has invited bids for the project, with the submission deadline scheduled for November 19, 2026.
