EVERY SINGLE Imperial Knight Class Explained! | Warhammer 40K One, Knight Paladin. The Paladin is the archetypal balanced Imperial Knight — a Questoris-class war machine equally capable of ranged fire and close combat, and the chassis most commonly depicted when the words "Imperial Knight" are spoken aloud. It exists because the noble households of the Imperium needed a single pilot, in a single machine, capable of contesting any threat on the battlefield without waiting for support that might never arrive. The reaper chainsword handles whatever reaches melee range. The rapid-fire battle cannon handles everything trying to stay out of it. A Paladin advances through the wreckage of a shelled road, cannon tracking a column of enemy armor that has not yet seen it; the first shell strikes before the lead vehicle finishes turning, and by the time the column's rearmost crew realize what is firing, the chainsword is already swinging. Knight Paladins formed the core of Questoris households that answered the Mechanicum's call during the Horus Heresy, fighting on both sides of that civil war as entire noble families were forced to declare their allegiance, and the class has remained central to household doctrine in every major campaign since. The Paladin is not the most specialized knight on the field; it is the one that reminds every other knight what a knight is supposed to be.
