Oct 2026 Brister Sheltershed Restoration Project Update

Welcome to another preservation update from the Friends of the Ohio River & Western Railway Historical Society! In this video, we take a closer look at the ongoing restoration of the historic Brister Sheltershed, one of the few remaining sheltersheds associated with the Ohio River & Western Railway. Built in 1914 by local craftsmen for the Brister family farm, the structure stood along the route of the OR&W, connecting this historic railroad to the farms and communities it served. Join Bo Decoy and Bill Logan as they walk us through the rebuilding of this unique piece of local railroad history. Their work helps preserve not only the structure itself, but also the story of the people, farms, and communities that were part of the Ohio River & Western Railroad's legacy. Restoring a structure more than a century old takes time, care, and dedicated volunteers.
