🚨Ghana’s latest drug trafficking investigation has taken a major turn, with 10 individuals, including four officers of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), being held as investigations continue. President John Dramani Mahama has chaired a meeting with security chiefs and directed the formation of an inter-agency task force to develop a detailed roadmap to prevent narcotics trafficking through Ghana’s borders. The task force has been given two weeks to submit its recommendations. Government Communications Minister and Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu has also explained why the four Customs officers are among those being investigated, saying available information indicates they handled the container connected to the case. He said other people could also be brought into the investigation if evidence points to their involvement. Meanwhile, Security Analyst Richard Kumadoe is questioning the claim that an insider leaked intelligence, asking where NACOC obtained the information that led to its arrest and investigation. Kumadoe has also called for closer cooperation among Ghana’s security agencies, including the BNI, Cybersecurity, NACOC and the Ghana Police Service, to tackle the case.
