Never Wasted Scars is an original love song I wrote for my wife, Julie, after 26 years of marriage—a true story of love, faith, disability, caregiving, loss, resilience, and discovering that the scars we carry don't have to be wasted. This official music video combines personal photographs, memories, travel, and moments from our life together to tell the story behind Never Wasted Scars. Our story began after a diving accident in 1996 left me a C5 quadriplegic at 19. I wondered whether the life I had imagined—or even finding love—would ever be possible again. Then God brought Julie into my life. Hospital visits became friendship. Friendship became love. And on December 18, 1999, we said yes to a life together. More than 26 years later, our story includes moments we never could have planned. We've walked through disability and caregiving, the loss of a child, the deaths of people we loved, years of ministry, Julie's own major health journey, surgeries, months in hospital, exhaustion, burnout, restoration, and seasons when our marriage and faith were tested. But we've also discovered something: Scars don't have to be wasted. The experiences we never would have chosen can become reminders of God's faithfulness, the love that carried us through, and how our pain can eventually become part of someone else's hope.
