Was Noah's Ark found in Turkey? See what the drilling, radar and soil samples from the Durupınar formation (Mount Ararat) actually showed in 2026.
A 157-meter boat-shaped hill, a drill bit that broke at 5 m, and lab results due this winter: what is fact, what is claim, and what is still a mystery.
In September 2026, a team drilled into the famous boat-shaped hill in Ağrı Province, near Doğubayazıt, reaching roughly 18 to 20 meters deep, a first for the site. The drill bit broke at about 4 to 5 meters after hitting a hard layer the team calls "possible petrified wood." A robotic camera went down about 12 m and, according to the team, found no rock or bedrock.
But does any of that prove anything? In this video we separate four things:
✅ What was observed
📢 What the team claims
🧠 What is interpretation
❓ What remains unknown
You will see:
The history of the formation, from Captain Ilhan Durupınar's photo in 1959
Why geologists like Lawrence Collins and Andrew Snelling say it is natural
How ground-penetrating radar (GPR) works, and what it can and cannot show
The soil with more organic matter and potassium: decayed wood or ordinary chemistry?
More than 300 samples collected, underground cavities, and the robot "Gopher"
What evidence would make an independent geologist change their mind (worked timber, radiocarbon dating, context and independent review)
⚠️ Important: the team's findings are preliminary. They have not been peer-reviewed or independently verified. There is no proof yet that the formation is Noah's Ark.
