I Found A Place In Alabama That's Actually Thriving

Who would have thought this was in Alabama? You might be surprised. The whole area is really neat. The Shoals as it’s called is made up of four cities - Muscle Shoals, Florence, Sheffield and Tuscumbia. There’s close to 200,000 people here on the banks of the Tennessee River. Most of Alabama is very wide and flat, and perfect for agriculture. Here, it’s kinda hilly. So the place has always had a unique culture to Alabama. I think it feels more like Tennessee than Alabama. It’s a lot more progressive here than the rest of the state, although people here vote conservative in large numbers. To me, the Shoals doesn’t feel very southern, but there’s still a lot of charm.
