England Road Tours - A658 Bradford to Knaresborough

Today's road tour takes us from Bradford to Knaresborough in Yorkshire. The road begins on the eastern side of Bradford at the inner ring road, and passes through Undercliffe, Greengates, Henshaw, and underneath the runway of Leeds Bradford Airport. Leaving the urban area, the road continues on to the eastern side of Knaresborough via Pool, Huby, and Follifoot and terminates at the A59. Historically, the A658 was included as part of the original numbering scheme in 1922, terminating at the A61 south of Harrogate. The Bradford end originally started at what is now the A650/A647 junction (Shipley Airedale Road/Leeds Road), before passing northwards through Barkerend. This then changed to the current route on completion of the Bradford inner ring road. Originally, the road also passed through Rawdon Crossroads before being directed further north in 1972. In the early 1990s, the route was extended from the A61 to the A59, serving as a bypass for Harrogate and Knaresborough. Filmed March 2023
