Before sunrise, imagine waking with no jacket, blanket, or sewn shirt. Archaeologists face an odd problem: clothing changed human survival, but the oldest garments usually rotted away. So how can we tell when humans began wearing clothes regularly? This video follows two unexpected lines of evidence: DNA from clothing lice, which points to habitual clothing use deep in prehistory, and bone tools from Contrebandiers Cave in Morocco that show sophisticated hide and fur working around 120,000–90,000 years ago. We also separate what the evidence can support from what it cannot. Lice genetics cannot give us the date of the very first garment, and hide-working tools do not prove a specific coat or shirt. Together, though, these clues reveal how clothing may have become a portable form of adaptation—placing a new layer between human skin and climate. The oldest clothes are mostly gone. The clues they left behind are not. #AncientHumans #Prehistory #HumanEvolution #Archaeology #EarlyHumans #HomoSapiens #StoneAge #Paleolithic #AncientHistory #PrehistoricLife #ClothingLice #AncientClothing #HumanOrigins #AncientTechnology #Evolution #Anthropology #BoneTools #AnimalHides #PrehistoricSurvival #BeforeModernLife
