Music in Exile presents: 'A Buttery Session' with Corey & Maryos of Sleep D

Order Vinyl or Stream ~ http://bit.ly/gordonsleepdyt Early this year, in preparation for the release of the incredible Gordon Koang x Sleep D x Andras 'Y Dah/South Sudan' 12" maxi-single (roughly translating as Our Country/South Sudan), we were lucky enough in between lockdowns to visit Sleep D at their Butter Sessions studio, office & record store in Melbourne, Australia. What transpired was an amazing insight into the duo's working process, not only musically but emotionally, with some extra challenges thrown into the mix. A beautiful insight into cross-genre and cross-cultural collaboration, bringing the music of a much-revered South Sudanese songwriter into the cutting edge scene of contemporary Melbourne electronica. Along the way, new friendships were made and new modes of working developed. Thank you to Corey, Maryos, Nick McKk, Rochelle Oh, WAT Artists, and most importantly Gordon & Paul! Gordon Koang x Sleep D x Andras 'Y Dah / South Sudan (Remixes)' 12" out now via Music in Exile / Above Board (UK/EU). http://bit.ly/gordonsleepdyt Music in Exile is a not-for-profit record label & artist services company that champions Australian musicians from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, particularly those with lived experience of displacement or diaspora.
