A lot of us are solving for the problem we think is the problem. It usually isn't. A few years ago I caught a glimpse of a Monday that didn't feel like a Monday, and I spent the next stretch of my life trying to buy it. We looked at houses in Berkeley. We got a realtor. We talked about selling our place. We made an offer. In this one I get into what I was actually chasing, why it had nothing to do with a city, and the shift that changed everything—giving myself the space instead of waiting to earn it.
