Version 1.7.1 is the biggest update to Aerofly FS Global in 2026, officially bringing the simulator into the 1.7 series. IPACS released a preview of this update as early as July, but the official version of Aerofly FS Global was not updated until October 8. The previous major update, version 1.6.1, was released in December 2025, almost a year ago.
Navigation System and Navigation Data
1. All navigation data has been updated to the latest 2026 data. There is no longer any need to rely on navigation data and charts from more than a decade ago. Shanghai Pudong International Airport now has navigation data for all four runways, meaning Runway 34R/16L can finally be used for instrument approaches. Some airports have also had their missing navigation data added. I can now challenge many famous approach procedures that previously lacked navigation data.
2. The mobile version of Aerofly FS Global still does not support automatic SID and STAR selection, and its navigation database does not include airways. Therefore, when entering a route, waypoints still have to be connected individually instead of entering airways directly. These limitations are likely due to features being cut from the mobile version, and they should hopefully be addressed in a future update.
Scenery
1. The problem of large bumps in airport grass areas caused by uneven terrain has finally been fixed. The bumps that were previously very noticeable at Hong Kong International Airport (VHHH/HKG) are now completely gone, and the grass areas are almost level with the runways.
2. Handcrafted landmark buildings have been added to some cities.
Aircraft Models
1. The MCDUs/FMS/CDUs of the A320 family, A350, B777, and B787 have all been updated with Direct-To functionality. However, the airways functionality remains unavailable in the mobile version.
2. The A350's cabin doors can now be opened and closed, using the same control method as the A320 family: tap the cabin door indications on the ECAM. The A350's flap sounds have also been improved, compared with the extremely loud electric auxiliary flap sounds on the real A350 that were added in the previous update.
