THIS IS NOT WHAT YOU THINK. The Palo Penitentes of Leyte have been wearing these traditional robes called "tais-dupol" (tais for the pointed hats, and dupol for the flat hats) since 1894. It has formed their penitential tradition on Holy Week ever since - and every Good Friday, devotees gather first to raise funds for charity, and later walk barefoot on scorching hot streets as a sign of their penance. This is a video of the parades this Holy Week - surprising, and shocking it certainly is. ================ CONTACT ME!
