There is a man in the fifth chapter of Genesis who gets one sentence.
No miracles are recorded. No sermon of his survives. No crowd ever gathered for him. The Bible gives him eight words and then he disappears from the earth: "Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him."
And before that, one detail almost nobody notices.
He walked with God THREE HUNDRED YEARS.
Not three hundred days. Three hundred years of ordinary mornings, in a civilization so corrupt that God eventually drowned it, with nothing to show for it but one line in a genealogy.
That cost him something. And the reason so few believers ever walk that way is not that the price is too high. It is that the price is paid where nobody can see it.
That is why it is secret.
In this message we explore the teachings of A. W. Tozer on the cost nobody preaches — the one that is never dramatic, never witnessed, and never applauded.
🚶 OUR FLESH CAN ENDURE SUFFERING. WHAT IT CANNOT ENDURE IS OBSCURITY.
Let us be clear: nothing replaces the Word of God. Your Bible is the foundation and the final authority. But a walk is not a moment. A walk is the thing you do again tomorrow, and on the morning you do not feel like it — and that is exactly where almost every believer breaks down. Not in a crisis. In a Tuesday. A man will run himself to exhaustion in front of a crowd and call it joy; put the same man alone in a room at five in the morning for nine months with nobody applauding, and he quits in six weeks. That takes a plan, not a mood. So we built one.

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." — A. W. Tozer
📖 Base texts:
Genesis 5:24 — "And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him."
Amos 3:3 — "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?"
📖 Topics covered in this sermon:
The first installment: AGREEMENT. Two men do not walk together by accident — and when God and a man walk together, which of the two changed His mind about where He was going? Asking God to bless the road you already picked is not walking with God
The second installment: PACE. God moves through human history at the speed of a man walking. Eighty years to prepare Moses. Thirteen years of silence after the promise to Abraham. More gifted men are wrecked by running ahead than by disobedience
Genesis 3 and "the cool of the day" — the appointment Adam missed. We have kept the crisis prayer and lost the daily walk, and it is the walk when nothing is happening that makes the man
Jacob at Peniel: he went into that night able to outrun his consequences and came out leaning on a staff — "and he halted upon his thigh." Every man who has truly walked with God walks with a limp, and God took the running out of him on purpose
