According to Hindu spiritual tradition, this sacred spot is recognized as the "Aajol" (maternal grandparents' home) of Lord Dattatreya.The Abode of Kardam Rishi: It marks the ancient hermitage of Maharishi Kardam (the son of Brahma), who performed severe penance here. His daughter, Sati Anusuya, married Sage Atri and gave birth to the divine trinity manifestation, Lord Dattatreya. The area is also deeply revered as Prati-Gangapur because tradition states that the holy waters of the Ganges manifested here for the ascetics.
