Nothing in your task data changed. When clients moved to the new Cynomi assessment experience, task statuses, owners, dates, notes, history, evidence, and SOPs carried over untouched. What changed is the assessment layer: every question now maps to exactly one task, old multi-select checklists became individual questions, and answers of partial or I don't know were cleared and kept as searchable notes so they could not force a task status that no longer fit. Why Do Assessments I Already Completed Now Show Open Questions? Some legacy questions were select-all-that-apply checklists, where one question covered several tasks. Each checklist item is now its own question with its own task. Options you left unselected were never actually answered, so they now appear as open questions while the matching task stays in not started. Tasks and answers now sync in both directions, so as you keep updating task statuses in your remediation work, the assessment fills itself in. What Happened to Partial and I Don't Know Answers? In the old assessment, one partial answer could touch several tasks, so it was not precise enough to carry across. In the new assessment, partial maps to a single task in progress. Rather than change task statuses to fit, the answer was cleared and a note records the original answer alongside any notes you captured. Search for "partial" or "answer cleared automatically" to pull up every affected question, then update them in bulk if you want the assessment and tasks in parity. Why Did My Posture Score or Compliance Percentage Shift? Questionnaires that were opened but never submitted in the legacy experience had tasks prescribed behind the scenes that stayed hidden in the UI and out of the score. Because scope is now explicit, those tasks are visible and counted. Your security posture score and compliance completion percentages are both calculated from tasks, not from assessment questions. Can I Change a Client's Scope or Frameworks Without Losing Work? Yes. Removing tasks from scope changes what is visible and scored, but the underlying task data is kept, so anything you pull back in returns with its prior status and notes. Enabling a framework in the client settings shows how many of its tasks are already in scope through overlapping frameworks and takes you straight to the rest. In the demo, enabling PCI DSS 4.0.1 showed 88 of its 118 tasks already covered, leaving 30 to add. You can also switch a client from one template to another, for example from CIS Controls IG1 to IG2, as they mature. What Should I Do With My Clients Now? For clients already working through tasks and remediation plans, nothing is required. It is worth reviewing each company profile, which now captures the security tools in use, data types, and program basics that feed the assessment's suggested answers. Older scan data is not reprocessed, so run a manual scan or set up a recurring one to give the suggestions fresh evidence. Who This Is For Service providers who ran assessments in the legacy Cynomi experience and want to understand what the migration did to existing client data: MSPs, MSSPs, IT service providers, and consultancies. It assumes you are already a Cynomi partner working with live client environments.
