Poetry by Amraiz Khan In Tribute to Life, Works & Legacy of Shaykh Khawaja Sufi Mohammed Yousaf Sahib R.A. (1943-2018) of Peterborough U.K. & Amb Sharif, Dadyal, Pakistan 🇵🇰 🌟 This is a short bio on their amazing life. A great man of Allah who had great character, high morals and was very humble and compassionate. He helped thousands from all walks of life become better people by following the beautiful teachings of Islam. Affectionately known by titles such as 'Khalifa Sahib', 'Red Beard Man' or 'Allah Hu Waley' He was born in 1934, in the village of Amb, Dadyal. The youngest of 3 brothers. From a young age he had exemplarily character and known for his honesty and wisdom beyond his years. Despite coming from a rural village he had a passion for seeking knowledge, sharing information and inspiring others. Seeing this wonderful trait in such a youthful person the elders of the community would always give him further encouragement. As a teenager every friday he was selceted do give a short speech in the local mosque before the main Imam delivered his Jummah sermon. In 1964 the Shaykh migrated to the U.K. He worked in Leeds, Huddersfield, Birmingham & London whilst at the same time calling people to Islam and had the honour of performin hajj in the early 1970’s. He was a man who did not desire to accumulate wealth and would spend majority of his earnings in the way of Allah swt. Regularly donating large sums of money to the needy and distributing food to the poor. His generosity was legendary yet he wouldn’t seek publicity for it. Only recently it came to light that on two occasions he took it upon himself to pay for the funding for the whole of a mosque project. Once in the early 1970’s in Birmingham and once in the late 1970’s in Pakistan. In 1981 on the guidance of his Shaykh he moved to a Peterborough where the Muslim community were seeking religious leadership and spiritual guidance. Despite not having any family or friends in Peterborough the Shaykh immediately started serving the local and surrounding communities in St Ives, Bedford, Huntingdon. The Shaykh would: Teach Quran Hold Circles of Dhikr Revert Study Circles Prison Imam for Jummah & Eid Prayers Lead Short Taravee in Ramadhan Deputise for local Imams The Shaykh worked for British Rail for 20 years but his evenings and weekends were dedicated to serving humanity especially the youth. After retirement in 2001 he increased his efforts and started travelling overseas for Dawah. Despite both kidneys failing in 2011 and suffering other serious illnesses and having multiple operations he remained steadfast, maintained his high standards and continued motivating others to do good. He left this world on 2nd April 2018 yet his legacy continues through his friends, family and dedicated students who will strive to continue his mission of uniting communities and guiding humanity through Peace, Love, Harmony and good character. His funeral prayer was attended by thousands in England and Pakistan. Tribute events are held regularly in various towns and cities to honour his life and work. The next big tribute event to take place so far will be held on Sunday 15th August 2021 in Peterborough. This will the 41st annual gathering and event he himself established back in 1981. It will be hugely emotional and sentimental as the first annual event since the great shaykhs physical demise and we aim to make it the biggest and best ever. May Allah swt grant him the highest place in Jannah. Brothers and Sisters are all invited to this event.
