During the 8th Manipur Legislative Assembly session, a heated argument took place between BJP MLA Nongthombam Biren Singh and Opposition Congress MLA K. Ranjit regarding the reaffirmation of the resolution on the National Register of Citizens (NRC). The Congress Party argued that the resolution adopted by the Assembly in the past was incorrect and should therefore be reconsidered and a fresh resolution should be passed. However, former Chief Minister and BJP leader Nongthombam Biren Singh rejected the allegations raised by the Congress MLA.
