I Went Inside College Football's NEWEST Stadium

The Throne Spud Tour 2026 heads to EVANSTON to experience Northwestern Wildcats football. Specifically, a night game against Penn State in the brand new $850 million Ryan Field. Ryan Field is college football's newest stadium, and it doesn't look like anything else in the sport. A sweeping roof wraps around the stands, every seat is close to the action, and the whole place glows purple under the lights. Add a Penn State team bringing a Big Ten blue blood to town, and this was the perfect game to put the new stadium to the test. Before kickoff, I picked up a House Divided Northwestern hat, rode the Purple Line up to Evanston, and ate my way through the Chicago Food Festival.
