On October 24, 2026, Rowe Recital Hall at UNC Charlotte filled with the sound of Korea.
The Sound of Korea is a chamber ensemble concert that walks through modern Korean history one era at a time, from liberation in 1945 to the present day. Each piece carries the memory of its time: the hope, the hardship, and the songs people held onto along the way.
The stage was set against the paintings of Yoo Youngkuk, one of Korea’s great pioneers of abstract art, shared with us by the Yoo Youngkuk Art Foundation. Seeing his color and form behind the music made the evening feel complete.
This concert is part of Korea in the Queen City (KQC), a Korean arts and culture program by Hands On Well, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the Charlotte area. KQC started with a simple idea: a place where anyone can come together and enjoy Korean culture, whatever their background or beliefs. Admission was free.
Thank you to everyone who came, played, volunteered, and supported us. We hope to see you next season.
