WhatsApp and Slack bot integration to nudge me to record · Episode 40

Episode 40. The one where I start sketching a version of Underway that lives in WhatsApp and Slack instead of waiting in a browser tab. Most tools sit still until you remember them. Meanwhile the record of what you actually did today already exists, scattered across commits, website changes and half-finished branches. None of it ever turns round and asks how it went. The gap between a system that knows what you did and a system that says something about it is what this episode is about. The way I describe it: your personal system, your executive system that knows everything you've done, except it sits in your Slack or your WhatsApp and can hold a conversation. It might message to say you've just finished a long list of pushes into GitHub, and ask whether you want to record a note about that now, how you feel, or leave it to later. It might notice many changes to your website over the past week and ask whether that should be an episode, what inspired you to do that and why. Then, if you say yes, it sets the episode up. Video or podcast. Invite someone or not. How long. Portrait or landscape. With an AI co-host or without. Then it opens it in your browser. I also cover: • asking the co-host why it opens with "tonight" when it was early where I am, and whether it uses the same sentence every time • Slack as the other place this thing could sit, which I hadn't mentioned before • the co-host asking how I would decide when to interrupt someone and when to stay quiet • a quiet mode that only nudges after meaningful events, a batch of commits or a week of changes, with the user dialling it up or down • the co-host trying to park the whole idea as a future episode topic, and me asking why it did that • where it stands: research and product thinking, not something I am building yet For anyone designing an assistant that has to speak first, this is the unresolved part of it, thought through out loud while building in public. #buildinpublic #whatsappintegration #slackintegration #aicohost #productthinking
