Have you ever fallen asleep in the back seat on a long drive home and woken up the next morning in your own bed, with no memory of how you got there? Someone carried you the whole way. You just didn't know it. This morning prayer is a thank-you to the God who has carried you through every season of your life: childhood and wedding days, the first time you held your baby, hospital waiting rooms, funeral homes, and the long stretches of road you thought you would never get through. Many of the times He carried us, we were too tired, too sad, or too overwhelmed to notice. We open Deuteronomy 1:31, where Moses reminds Israel that the Lord bore them "as a man doth bear his son," all the way through forty years in the wilderness. Even after being carried that far, they still struggled to trust, which is exactly why remembering matters. God even kept their sandals from wearing out and their feet from swelling, a reminder that He cares for the smallest details of our lives. We follow Jesus, the Good Shepherd who doesn't scold the lost sheep but lifts it onto His shoulders and carries it home rejoicing. He gathers His lambs close to His heart and slows His pace for those who can't move quickly. And we kneel at the cross, where He carried the heaviest load of all, our sins in His own body, so that no one can ever pluck us out of His hand. Then we give thanks and ask for strength and peace for the road still ahead. Pray along with the refrain, "You have carried me this far, Lord, and You will not set me down now."
Type "You have carried me this far, Lord" in the comments if you're thanking God for His faithfulness this morning, and share this prayer with someone who needs to remember they are still being carried.
🙏 In This Prayer:
• Thanking God for every season He has carried you through
• The child carried in from the car: the times we were carried without knowing it
• Deuteronomy 1:31: carried like a father carries his son
• Why remembering God's faithfulness protects us from future fear
• Sandals that did not wear out: God's care in the small details
• Borne on eagles' wings when you were falling
• The God who is afflicted in all our afflictions
• Jesus the Good Shepherd, who lifts the lost sheep onto His shoulders
• Carried close to His heart and led at a gentler pace in our later years
• The greatest carrying of all: Jesus bearing our sins on the cross
• Held in the hand of Jesus, where no one can take you away
• Strength for the road ahead and peace for today
• Prayer for those still on the dark stretch of the road
