What’s your take on where the community stands on the importance of this? You wrote an article recently titled “Engineers are bad judges of FinOps efficiency”. What is wrong with their judgement - can you summarize your argument here. We don’t want to turn every engineer into a finops expert but having zero cost focus is also not right. What’s the right balance? How do you create the right incentives for engineers to care about cost and drive action? Measurement, Unit economics and KPIs You’ve written alot about metrics and KPIs, what are some methods you’ve used to measure efficiency and how well a system is optimized? Alot of teams create cost models and goals in planning but never measure the actual unit economics in production. What processes have you used to make sure systems are instrumented properly to be able to measure KPIs properly?
