Bayernhymne – Anthem of Bavaria | Lyrics (+ English Translation)

The "Bayernhymne" (Bavaria Hymn) is the official anthem of the Free State of Bavaria. The original three stanzas were written by Michael Öchsner. This included the third stanza "Königsstrophe" (King's Stanza), which was later replaced by Joseph Maria Lutz in 1946, who also changed "Deutsche Erde" (German soil) to "Heimaterde" (native soil) among other things. These amendments led to debates between people loyal to Öchsner's version and Lutz' revised hymn, making Bavaria change their anthem several times throughout the post-war era. This version was sung and released by the "Motettenchor Tegernsee" in 2014, with the text seemingly being a mixture of Michael Öchsner and Joseph Maria Lutz' versions of the anthem. Since a non-AI recording of the King's Stanza couldn't be found, this video only contains the first two stanzas.
