Something has changed at Kilauea. A new magma intrusion occurred on Wednesday & Thursday, seemingly sending some molten rock beneath Keanakāko‘i Crater. As a result, that crater and some additional locations close to it were closed off due to the theoretical potential for volcanic activity. Today's video will analyze this recent magma intrusion, but keep in mind that the actual specific depth and extent of the magma dike have not been publicly stated. Thus, there is a lot of opinion given in today's video which could be incorrect; magma may not have actually gone beneath Keanakāko‘i Crater as an example.
