Saturday 5th September 2026 saw The Royal Regiment of Scotland presented with the Freedom of Inverclyde. At a short ceremony in Battery Park Gourock, Major General Robin Lindsay accepted the Freedom of Inverclyde on behalf of The Royal Regiment of Scotland. The troops of 2 SCOTS "The Royal Highland Fusiliers" , accompanied by 2 SCOTS Pipes Drums and Bugles and the Band of The Royal Regiment of Scotland then paraded with bayonets fixed along the promenade to Gourock Primary School. Sadly Corporal Cruachan IV, the Shetland Pony who is the mascot of The Royal Regiment of Scotland missed the parade because the start point had been incorrectly posted online as "The Gourock Yacht Club" whereas it was actually "The Greenock Boat Club"....
