"शनिवार वाडा" पहिला बाजीराव पेशवा यांनी सन 1736 साली 13 खोल्यांचा पेशव्यांचा राजवाडा म्हणजेच शनिवार वाडा बांधला. हा वाडा पेशव्यांचे मुख्य ठिकाण होते. हे पुण्याच्या संस्कृतीचे प्रतिक आहे. शनिवार वाडयाचे मुख्य प्रवेशद्वार दिल्ली दरवाजा या नावाने व इतर दरवाजे गणेश, मस्तानी, जंभळ, खिडकी अशा नावांनी ओळखले जातात. शनिवार वाडयासमोर पहिल्या बाजीरावाचा घोडयावर बसलेला पुतळा आहे. शनिवारवाडयात गणेश महल, रंग महल, आरसा महल, हस्तीदंत महल, दिवाणखाना आणि कारंजे अशी अनेक ठिकाणे पाहावयास मिळतात. भारत सरकारने शनिवारवाड्याला दिनांक १७ जून, इ.स. १९१९ रोजी महाराष्ट्रातील राष्ट्रीय संरक्षित स्मारक म्हणून घोषित केलेले आहे. शनिवारवाड्याची इमारत २१ फूट उंच होती आणि चारही बाजूने एकूण ९५० फूट लांबीची तटबंदी भिंत होती. ही भिंत आणि बुरूजं आजही पुण्यातील मध्यवस्तीत दिमाखाने उभे आहेत. वाड्याभोवतालच्या भिंतीला पाच मोठे दरवाजे व नऊ बुरूज आहेत.
