When winter paints the world in white,
And stars awaken in the night,
Beyond the woods, beneath the blue,
A Christmas dream comes shining through.
The River Lea goes flowing by,
Beneath the silver winter sky.
And moonlight falls, so soft and true,
Upon the hills of Luton Hoo.
Where ancient oaks their secrets keep,
And peaceful woods lie fast asleep,
A stately home of golden light
Stands proudly through the winter night.
The winding paths, the gardens fair,
The magic of the winter air,
The silent lake, the morning dew,
Reflect the splendour of Luton Hoo.
Through centuries of passing years,
Through countless dreams and joyful tears,
Your beauty shines forever true,
The heart of England, Luton Hoo.
And when the Christmas bells begin,
The songs of old come home again.
Across the fields, through falling snow,
A thousand Christmas candles glow.
OH, LUTON HOO, O CHRISTMAS STAR!
YOUR LIGHT SHALL SHINE BOTH NEAR AND FAR!
THROUGH FIELDS OF WHITE, THROUGH SKIES OF BLUE,
THE WORLD STILL DREAMS OF LUTON HOO!
OH, LUTON HOO, O HOUSE OF LIGHT!
A JEWEL BENEATH THE WINTER NIGHT!
LET ANGELS SING, LET BELLS RING TRUE,
AND CHRISTMAS SHINE ON LUTON HOO!
Forever bright, forever true,
Our Christmas dreams belong to you.
Where River Lea begins to flow,
Through winter fields and gentle snow,
Its silver waters softly glide,
Where ancient trees stand side by side.
Beside the lake, so calm and deep,
The winter stars their vigil keep.
The moonlight paints the waters blue,
Reflecting dreams of Luton Hoo.
And every ripple seems to say,
That Christmas love will find its way.
Across the lake, beneath the blue,
The stars shine down on Luton Hoo.
Behind the walls of ancient stone,
Where summer's sweetest flowers have grown,
The Walled Gardens rest beneath the snow,
Where winter's gentle breezes blow.
The sleeping roses dream of spring,
Of birds returning home to sing.
And every pathway, still and white,
Awaits the dawn of Christmas light.
The garden gates, the ivy green,
Preserve the beauty of this scene.
And though the flowers sleep from view,
Their dreams remain at Luton Hoo.
Through Georgian halls of timeless grace,
The centuries have left their trace.
Where marble shines and portraits gaze
Upon the splendour of former days.
The Christmas trees are shining bright,
The candles dance in golden light.
The grand old halls are dressed with cheer,
To welcome Christmas once more here.
The gentle sound of carols flows
Beyond the windows dressed in snow.
And laughter fills the winter air,
With love and kindness everywhere.
Snowflakes falling, soft and slow,
Where the ancient woodlands grow.
Christmas angels, shining bright,
Guard our dreams this holy night.
River Lea, so calm and blue,
Sing your song for Luton Hoo.
Walled Gardens sleeping under snow,
Dream of springtime flowers to grow.
Christmas bells, Christmas light,
Fill the world with love tonight.
May our sweetest dreams come true,
Merry Christmas, Luton Hoo!
If every tree could tell its tale,
If every breeze across the vale
Could sing of all the years gone by,
Its song would reach the Christmas sky.
If every stone could speak tonight,
Beneath the stars of silver light,
It would whisper through the falling snow
Of all the love these walls have known.
For beauty lives beyond the years,
Beyond our laughter and our tears.
And heritage is more than what we see,
It's what we leave for eternity.
