KASHMIR TOUR | কাশ্মীর ভ্রমণ | TULIP GARDEN SRINAGAR | NEHRU BOTANICAL GARDEN | PARIMAHAL SRINAGAR #vlog #traveller ujjal #ujjal kanti roy Tulip Garden Srinagar—officially named the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden—is Asia's largest tulip garden, spread over a sloping terraced expanse of about 30 acres at the foothills of the Zabarwan Range, overlooking Dal Lake. Set in a tiered landscape, it showcases millions of tulips across numerous vibrant varieties, alongside other spring flowers like hyacinths, daffodils, and ranunculus, creating sweeping multicolored rows of blooms during the brief spring season (typically March to April). History Establishment (2007): Conceived and inaugurated in 2007 by then Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, the garden was built to boost tourism in Kashmir during the lean early-spring shoulder season. Site Transformation: The terraced land previously served as a horticultural nursery/slope area before being converted into a multi-tiered alpine-style tulip showcase. Expansion & Growth: Originally planted with a smaller subset of bulbs imported mostly from tulip-rich regions like Amsterdam (Netherlands), the garden has expanded yearly in scale, variety count, and visitor infrastructure, drawing hundreds of thousands of domestic and international tourists each spring. Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Botanical Garden is a sprawling 80-to-200-hectare modern green oasis situated on the foothills of the Zabarwan mountain range overlooking Dal Lake in Srinagar. Created as a tribute to India's first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the space functions as a conservation center, educational resource, and tranquil recreational retreat distinct from Srinagar's formal Mughal gardens. History & Establishment Inception: Originally conceptualized and set up in 1969 to honor Jawaharlal Nehru’s affinity for nature and environmental appreciation. Development & Completion: Evolved incrementally through phased horticultural work until being fully established and opened in 1987. Core Layout: Divided into four functional sectors—the Botanical Garden proper, the Plant Introduction Centre, the Research Section, and the Recreational/Sporting Garden. Key Features & Collections Flora: Home to roughly 150,000 ornamental plants, dense temperate oak forests, cedar, willow trees, and specialized greenhouse collections featuring orchids, cacti, and tropical/subtropical species. Water Features: Includes a picturesque 17-hectare internal lake equipped with paddle-boating facilities and quiet pond edges favored by migratory birds. Ambiance & Design: Features concrete walking trails, shaded canopy paths, children’s play zones, and panoramic mountain backdrops near landmarks like Chashma Shahi. Pari Mahal (the "Palace of Fairies") is a historic seven-terraced terraced garden and Islamic observatory perched on the Zabarwan Mountain range overlooking Dal Lake in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. History: Built in the mid-17th century around 1650–1655 AD by Dara Shikoh, the eldest son of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. It originally served as a library, a residence for Dara Shikoh's Sufi tutor Mullah Shah Badakhshi, and an observatory for studying astronomy and astrology. Architecture: Designed as a multi-tiered garden structure featuring cascading water channels, arched stone retaining walls, and terraced lawns that align symmetrically down the mountain slope. Views & Setting: Offers panoramic elevated vistas across Dal Lake and the Zabarwan valley, illuminated dramatically in the evenings. Visitor Info: Located near Cheshmashahi above Srinagar, open daily typically from 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM.
