The Dixie Weavers Basketry Guild created a display at the Public Library of Anniston and Calhoun County from March through May 2026. This special showcase included more than 70 handcrafted baskets, representing the skill, creativity, and dedication of the guild’s members. Formed in 2009, the Dixie Weavers share a common passion for preserving and advancing the art of basketry. This exhibit marks the first time the guild has brought together a large-scale public display of its members’ work. The collection highlights a wide range of weaving styles, including Nantucket, twill, coiled, and traditional techniques, using materials including rattan, white oak, seagrass, sweetgrass, pine needles, and waxed linen. Visitors find an assortment of basket types from market, storage, and utility baskets to totes, decorative pieces, wall hangings, and more—each reflecting both function and artistry. Together, these pieces offer a glimpse into the craftsmanship and tradition of basketry, showcasing the enduring value of handmade work and the collective talent of the Dixie Weavers. 00:00 Description of the display 00:32 - Display entrance 00:55 - Pan of display walls 03:42 - Individual baskets with descriptions 12:48 - Closing
